Keep Caption’s Core Work on Your Mac
Caption performs live capture, local audio and video processing, and session history work on the Mac. External services run when you enable the feature that uses them.
Material handled by subtitle work
A session can contain meeting audio, microphone input, app sound, screen activity, camera video, subtitle text, and time points. Caption keeps these items connected to the session that created them.
Core work performed on the Mac
- capture selected audio and video sources;
- create and revise subtitles for local media;
- save session history with subtitle text and time points;
- search saved text and reopen the matching time.
Features that use an external service
When you enable a feature that uses an external service, Caption sends the data required by that feature according to its settings and description. The feature choice makes the external step explicit.
Review the setting before each sensitive session
Select the sources and features used by the session, then confirm where its audio, video, text, and history will be processed and saved.
